A Message from Jayson Williams
Dear Friends,
I'm writing you to formally ask for your support to become the next Executive/Membership Vice President for of the Young Democrats of Maryland.
My background has been mostly in politics. I have been coordinating and recruiting for grassroots organizations since I was student body president of St. Mary's College. I've have a variety of political experience from being a campaign manager for Councilman Keiffer Mitchell to begin a feild coordinator on Delegate John Cardin's campaign. In the 2004 election I was a state field coordinator and minority turnout coordinator for Mikulski campaign and had the opportunity to meet and help Democrats all over the state. Now I work for Senate President Mike Miller as a legislative aide in his Annapolis office.
Currently, I am Vice President of Programs for the YDM and President of the Baltimore County Young Democrats. I've enjoyed both positions greatly and I'm honored to have been elected to serve young people in Maryland. This year I would like to head up the recruitment and outreach for the YDM as Executive/Membership VP. The YDM needs to continue focus on areas of the state that we have not had high membership or a formal YD chapter while supporting our strongest areas. As Executive/Membership VP I will focus on not only recruiting members but also preparing future leaders of the YDM and its chapters.
I know that my experience with Young Democrats and my campaign/professional experience has equiped me with the right skills to serve as Executive/Membership VP of YDM. I hope that you will be able to support me at the convention this weekend. If you have any questions feel free to contact me. YDM CONVENTION NOTICE: Members, WOW,Thank you for the incredible RSVP responses. We have a record 116 members attending the convention as of Sunday. If you have yet to respond please do so by Wednesday in order to give an accurate count to the caterer. The majority of members are coming from Montgomery. Prince Georges and the Eastern Shore (Washington College Rocks!). Anne Arundel, Southern Maryland, Western Maryland, Frederick, Howard and Baltimore we need you! RSVP at www.ydmaryland.org! I promise the final agenda will be sent out on Wednesday. I am waiting on two speakers to confirm availibility and time. The convention will kick off with a continental breakfast / registration from 8:30am - 9:15am followed by Josh White, Executive Director of the Maryland Democratic Party. Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller, Speaker of the House Mike Busch and other elected officials will round out the morning program. Lunch will be help at 12:30 followed by breakout sessions of candidate training and outreach. General Session will begin at 2:30 and elections will be held at this time.
